Just an hour drive from Los Angeles and Orange County, you can find Mount San Antonio, aka Mt Baldy. This is my favorite local trail to run and hike. The views are absolutely breath taking from the highest point of Los Angeles County, overlooking the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest.
Located in the heart of the Cleveland National Forest in the Saddleback Mountain Range, Holy Jim is a gem of a trail to run. Of the many trails in the Cleveland National Forest, Holly Jim is one of closest to most living in Orange County, however, it’s not the easiest to access.
Our first Trail of the Week is in Orange County at Crystal Cove State Park and Laguna Coast State Park. Our favorite local trail for running and hiking, these fire roads and single tracks have spectacular coastal views. Most trails are runnable with 200 to 300 feet per mile climbs for easy hikes and a long runs.
