We built the Altira short to disappear, with ultralight, ventilating, stretchy fabric from Toray and a split side vent that unlocks your fullest range of motion. Acrofuse™ stitchless seam technology is extra comfortable against the skin and allows the fabric to stretch without inhibition.

8 GELS, EASILY AT HAND

Able to comfortably carry 7x its weight, the Altira holds 8+ gels (or 6 gels, plus a phone), cards, and key fob: everything you need to tackle marathon distances at race pace. It took five prototypes to perfect the quickdraw elasticized gel pockets on the rear of either hip, keeping fuel secure and accessible without discomfort, hour after hour.

    I have now ran about 30 miles in the short so far. And they are amazingly light and breathable the material is not restrictive in any way shape or form. The only thing i have to say about cons is that when not running with gels the gel pockets do feel a little but weird and loose.

    Fast and light

    I just went on a fast 15 mile trail run with 3200ft vert in these shorts, and they were awesome. I usually wear the Sykes, and they're great, but the open elastic side pockets on the new Altira short are perfect for grabbing a gel or stowing trash on the move. I also really like the 3" inseam, split style, and overall lighter weight for high effort days. The shorts practically disappear, which is usually a trait of road marathon kit, not highly functional trail shorts like these with useful pockets. The closest thing these remind me of are the Patagonia Strider Pros, but the pockets on the Altiras are a lot better, and I've found Path Projects' separate liner system to be the best way to prevent chafing. I wore the 8" Lynx with these today. For sizing reference, I'm 5' 10" / 145 lbs / 30" waist and the small fit me perfectly - the fit is the same as the rest of the shorts. I'd love to see these in some more colors though... maybe "forest floor"?
