The Wadi 2.0 is … fine. I was really excited for it based on the reviews. I live at altitude in SW Colorado and basically live in sun hoodies: I wear a sun hoody for backcountry skiing almost daily in the spring, and I run/hike/fish in one daily all summer/fall. I wear a sun hoody pretty much daily for 7-8 months of the year.

I love the Pyrenees hoody, but it’s too warm for running in summer, so I figured I’d try the Wadi 2.0.

The OR Echo is the obvious competitor, also at 30+ spf. Frankly, I like it better. It’s just as cool feeling, has thumb loops, is a little stretchier/comfier, is lighter, and $12 cheaper. I don’t see why they didn’t add simple thumb loops — doesn’t need to be fancy like the Pyrenees, just a thin slit in the cuff like the Echo would work great. As far as I can tell, the only advantage of the Wadi 2.0 over the Echo is more light-colored options/colorways.

Another competitor is the MH Crater Lake, which is both lighter and stretchier/comfier, although a smidge warmer.

So why did I buy it? I guess at 30 spf, $98, and 6.4 oz, I was hoping this would be a step up in cooling compared to the other sun hoodies on the market, like how the Nike ACG radical airflow supposedly feels cooler than bare skin by reducing radiant heat and improving evaporative cooling. It’s a fine sun hoody and I like the color options so I’ll probably get another one (when it’s one sale), but ultimately it’s I prefer the OR Echo.
