Robert Jones Salt Lake City, UT - PATH projects KREW
Originally from Texas, I now live in Salt Lake City Utah! During the day, I work as a software developer, but after work I love going out for a run. I started running in 2010 at the age of 25 after a brief fight with cancer. I though it might be a good way to regain my health, and it definitely worked! I quickly fell in to trail running on the local mountain bike routes which then evolved in to running ultramarathons and other backcountry adventures. My girlfriend and I enjoy exploring the Wasatch Mountains and the southern Utah trails... she's MUCH faster than I am.
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
My favorite running accomplishment was running the Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim. I trained a whole year just with this in focus, but was well worth it.
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
I look forward to running RUFA in 2021. The event, Running Up For Air, was created to raise money in support of the fight for improved air quality for those who live along the Wasatch Front. The winner is the person with the most round trips on Grandeur Peak in 6, 12 or 24 hours.
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
My favorite is the Bighorn T19 Henley Shirt. It's perfect for chilly morning runs, casual night outs, and even work Zoom meetings!
What do you enjoy about running?
I love exploring nature, and traveling by foot opens so many opportunities to see unique and beautiful places.
Advice for runners looking to improve?
Consistency is key. Develop a routine that you enjoy and fits in your schedule that gets you running 5-6 days of the week. But don't forget, rest and sleep are equally important!
