Kyle Long Bend, Oregon - PATH projects KREW
I’m originally from Delaware, Ohio and recently moved to Bend, Oregon in search of mountains. I played professional soccer in my early years but was forced to retire early after a series of concussions. I found ultra-running as an outlet for my energy and have never looked back. I love the long run, 100 & 200 milers and truly believe ultra-running is one of the most life changing activities a person can find.
Professionally I’m a human performance specialist and sports performance coach working mostly with endurance athletes. If I’m not in the gym or on a trail I’m out on an adventure with my pup or enjoying a cider by a fire.
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
Finishing the 3 Sisters Traverse last summer! It involves summits of North, Middle and South Sister all in one day.
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
2021 has a handful of 100 & 200 milers on the schedule, but most excited about The Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainer!
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
Absolutely love the Sykes and Graves 5” shorts. I run in them, lift in them, work in them and sleep in them, so yeah, big fan.
What do you enjoy about running?
Running acts as my best form of therapy. I always say you can solve all the worlds problems in your head on a long run, and it’s truly been the gift that never stops giving in terms of bringing me inner peace.
Advice for runners looking to improve?
Be patient! Nobody wakes up and runs 100 miles on day 1. Go after quality miles over quantity and don’t be afraid to take a day off if needed! It should never be a job :)
