Joby Olguin Fayetteville, Arkansas - PATH projects KREW

Joby Olguin PATH projects

My name is Joby Olguin. Born and raised in Mexico, moved to the US at the age of 12. Always enjoyed being outdoors and keeping active. Got serious about running back in 2016 when I decided to run my first race, figured a Half Marathon would be a good distance to start. Fast forward to 2020 and I'm more passionate about running than ever before.

Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of

I used to dislike running with people. I always used running as a tool to get away from everyone and just be with my own thoughts. I'd have to say that finding a local running club has changed all of that. Finding the Columbus House Running Club was the biggest game changer. Running friends that slowly become family, a family that is with you through thick and thin. Whether it is logging training runs together, taking Strava crowns from one another and just knowing that we will all push each other to not give up. I'd have to say THAT is my biggest running accomplishment.

Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?

Typically, any local race hosted by the Spark Foundation here in Fayetteville, AR. Their Hero Half Marathon in October is such an amazing and scenic route. It truly gives people from out of town an idea of what NW Arkansas has got to offer.

COVID-19 has made it hard to truly excited about out of town races. But if things start to get better then I'd have to say running the Chevron Houston Marathon and eventually reach that infamous BQ.

Until then, just going out of town and just running in different National Parks and getting to be outdoors, drooling over how beautiful this planet truly is.

Your favorite PATH projects gear?

My favorite PATH projects gear would have to be the following:

  • Sykes PX 5" shorts  - All the pockets in the right places, perfect for long runs.
  • Wildcat AT 3" shorts - They are my go to for fast/ saucy runs. It feels as if you were running in just underwear. Cop them and you'll see exactly what I mean 😉
  • Pyrenees T19 long sleeve shirt - Soft, Lightweight, Breathable... the left sleeve has the watch slot to keep an eye out on your running stats.

ALL OF THEM IN BLACK. Because all black everything!

What do you enjoy about running?

I think sometimes the training block leading up to a race is often overlooked. So do your best to enjoy the journey.
Cheesy, I know... but just read it over and truly try digest it.

Advice for runners looking to improve?

I might be biased here but find yourself a good coach that will truly understand your goals. Find a good set of friends that will run with you despite the weather conditions and do your best to visit your local physical therapy. If I didn't have those 3 elements... I am not sure I'd be able to do what I do. But definitely the last one, Thank you, RISE PT. 😉

Social channels you are most active on?

Instagram and Strava

Anything else you’d like to share?

Drink Enough Water.
Get your 8 hours of sleep.
Log all the miles.
Eat all the carbs.

But most important of all. Be thankful to be able to do the things you that you do. Others might not be as lucky.

Cheers!
