Brandon Chase Northeast Harbor, Maine - PATH projects KREW
My name is Brandon and I'm originally from Maine - just outside Acadia National Park. Up until last month, I worked for the Department of State and was stationed overseas for most of the last decade where I picked up a passion for trail running and have since completed races in Egypt, Cyprus, Pakistan, Cambodia, Thailand, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.S.
In addition to running, I'm an avid backpacker and have completed the Appalachian Trail, West Highland Way and Mt. Kilimanjaro as well as many shorter hikes. I teach backpacking skills related to gear, food, maps, permits, travel, and fitness for Andrew Skurka’s Online Planning Course.
I also write about hiking, running, and fastpacking on various websites including my own blog (FitForMiles.com), TheTrek.co, and TheStringbean.co.
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
Finishing my first 50k ultramarathon was special for many reasons. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of ultrarunning, which has become one of my greatest passions, as well as gave me the knowledge and confidence to pursue longer and harder projects to keep pushing my boundaries.
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
Once the world opens back up, I'm looking forward to racing overseas again. I'm eyeing several events in Mexico, Nepal, and Malaysia.
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
Definitely the Pyrenees Hooded Shirts. They are so comfortable and I love the watch slot and pull-out gloves. They are my go-to for spring and fall runs!
What do you enjoy about running?
Work on building your cardio engine with targeted workouts (speed, hill, tempo, etc.) rather than just slogging miles. Quality over quantity!
Advice for runners looking to improve?
Be consistent, enjoy yourself, never give up.
Social channels you are most active on?
Anything else you’d like to share?
Henry David Thoreau said, "The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it". Let's make it count!
