Ryan Hall once held the American records in the half and full marathons. The first American to go sub 1-hour and sub 2:05, respectively. He competed in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Now, he's in search of a different challenge: the kind that's measured without medals or accolades, but in the stirring of the soul.
One of those is a route he calls Moksha, a concept derived from Indian religions meaning liberation, freedom: the ultimate aim of our time on Earth. Moksha spans the Elk Traverse in Crested Butte, CO. It's made up off-trail scramble, class 5 traverses, and summits lit by moonlight.
