Tylor Bates Sarasota, FL - PATH projects KREW
My Name is Tylor Bates, I live is sunny Sarasota Florida. A few years back I couldn't even run a lap around my block with out stopping. I stayed the course and worked hard, today I have run multiple Marathons and Ultra Marathons and couldn't be more happy with the progress I have made. Running has been so much more than a hobby for me. A few years back we lost our son Bennett late term in my wife's pregnancy and running was the light that got me through those dark times. Seeing how much running has done for me, My wife and I decided to start the process of launching a local 5K to bring awareness and support to familys who have suffered the same loss. So blessed to be apart of an amazing running community.
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
My most challenging adventure was a full marathon in the parking lot of a mall. I woke up one morning and decided it would be fun. Around and around I went, 1.2 mile laps. It was great training for my mind to push through when things get tough.
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
Pikes Peak Marathon in CO. I am a flat lander coming from sea level to run a marathon up a 14,000 foot mountain. It should be fun right?
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
Sykes 7" short, this is my go to work horse. I wear these on 80% of my runs they are very comfortable and dry very fast. The pockets are placed with precision, the cell phone pocket makes it seem as if your phone just disappears.
What do you enjoy about running?
Running at 5am or earlier before anyone is awake. It's just you, the sound of your breathing, your foot steps, and your thoughts. It's an amazing way to find momentum to take on the challenges of the day.
Advice for runners looking to improve?
Take it slow, one step at a time. In this day we seem to worry too much about what everyone else is doing. Take a step back look into your self and remember how truly blessed you are to be able to run.
