Matt Cook Rowlett TX - PATH projects KREW

Matt Cook Path Projects Ambassador

Hi y’all! Native Texan business owner and proud amateur runner here, though running was not always my thing! What if I told you that 7 years ago I couldn’t run a mile and weighed 348 pounds? Fast forward 7 years and running is what saved my life. It has given so much to me and now I give back to the sport! Accomplished a buckle list race this year by getting that elusive sub 24 hour 100 miler and so many more adventures are awaiting me!

Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of

Completing my first marathon and 100 mile race within the same year. 2020-2021 is when my love for running took to the racing world and where I’ve seen the most growth. It’s also a year in which I’ve met some of the best people in my life and shown me exactly what can be done in the face of adversity.

Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?

Any of the 200 milers at this point. Next step towards that goal is Outlaw135 at the beginning of 2022. It’s 135 miles with 22k vert.

Your favorite PATH projects gear?

Sykes shorts with the torch liner because the materials are super lightweight, prevent chaffing, and it’s the perfect combo. I’ve always hated shorts with liners and this combo literally changed the way running shorts should be made!

What do you enjoy about running?

I enjoy everything! The warmup when you aren’t feeling it to the run that makes you question why you’re out here to the feel of the perfect run or race. They all bring you some satisfaction at some point and they are keeping me healthy. Trails and nature just inspire me to want to run farther and longer to stay where I’m the happiest!

Advice for runners looking to improve?

Be patient! I know it’s hard to hear when you want to keep improving every day. But you need the setbacks to grow. Just keep being patient and persistent. Good things will come if you keep on going!

Social channels you are most active on?

Strava and Instagram.

Anything else you’d like to share to the PATH projects community?

Looking forward to all the adventures with the KREW!
