Kyle Whalum, Los Angeles, California - PATH projects KREW
I’m a professional musician and proud amateur athlete. I love being outside in any capacity but especially running long distances on trails and mountains.
In the 12 years I’ve been running, I’ve run 16 ultramarathons including 5 hundred milers. I’m proud to support various causes and encourage ALL different kinds of people to reconnect with the outdoors. Trail-therapy is for everybody!
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
In my last 100 miler, the Coldwater Rumble in AZ, I came in under 24 hrs, breaking my previous PR by over 3hrs. I also have yet to drop from a race, although that is inevitable the longer you do it!
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
Definitely wanting to tag Mt Whitney in the near future. Timed/track event curious. I would love to conquer the Angeles Crest 100 in the near future as it ends 0.6 miles from my front door!
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
Crest PX shorts are my fav since I have to jump back into being dad to two young kids immediately after most of my adventures. The pockets come in clutch for toys and pacifiers! Also the Pinyon bandana has become a central piece of gear during Covid.
What do you enjoy about running?
I love the flow state of running on trails. No music needed. It’s essentially moving meditation.
One piece of advice for runners looking to improve?
