Jason Cohen Lafayette, Louisiana - PATH projects KREW

Jason Cohen runnning

Hey I am Jason Cohen a runner from Lafayette, LA. Around 11 years ago I found myself weighing in at 297lbs and realized that I had to make a change in my life. Fast forward to today, I am 120lbs lighter, an ultra-marathoner, and I feel better than ever!

Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of

My first race was the Leadville Heavy Half Marathon which I did on a whim. It was my first experience of being at the starting line with a big group and it was a big step for me in my health journey. I remember crossing the finish line like it was yesterday and was an amazing experience for me considering only a few years earlier I could have hardly run around the block. A few years later completing the Leadville 100 was pretty special, but the first race really stick with me.

Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?

Running the Leadville 100 in 2021 and hopefully lots of adventures between here and there!

Your favorite PATH projects gear?

Hands down would be the 7in Graves shorts. They fit like a glove and have all of the pockets/storage you could need for several hours. Even when they are loaded down with food/gels/etc they keep everything close enough to my body so that I never feel like my pockets are bouncing around.

What do you enjoy about running?

I am a visual person. I love being able to experience my own town or new places at a pace that is much slower than a car or a bike... It is a great way to explore a trail or a city street.

Advice for runners looking to improve?

Don't focus on your pace and/or distance. Also don't compare yourself to other runners. Your journey only belongs to you and just enjoy the process (this sounds like more than one piece of advice :)
