Brian Burke Somerville, MA - PATH projects KREW
I'm a garden designer in Somerville, MA who finds inspiration in the wild. I signed up for my first race three years ago, and soon found a home in the local ultrarunning community. When I'm not out running deer trails in the dark, I lead the Northeast Trail Crew, a Boston-area run club.
Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of
I was the winner of four ultramarathons last year. I love the thrill of racing, and am grateful for the lessons I learn on the trail.
Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?
With local races cancelled, I plan to run 50 miles while repeating a loop around my neighborhood this winter. That's a lot of pavement.
Your favorite PATH projects gear?
The watch hole on the Pyrenees hoodie is pretty genius.
What do you enjoy about running?
My favorite days are the ones where I step outside and run without a destination. I like to get lost then find my way home.
Advice for runners looking to improve?
Join a run club and find people who push you. Having accountability to other runners makes it easier to meet your goals.
