Alex Barkley Flagstaff, AZ - PATH projects KREW

Alex Barkley

Originally from Seattle, WA. I grew up in the mountains backpacking, hiking, and camping. In the city I fell in love with racing on the track, then cross country. After a several year hiatus from running, I combined my love for the mountains with my love for running and starting exploring again. Recently, I moved to Flagstaff, AZ where the running community is wildly supportive and I am slowly but surely getting my competitive edge back.

Running accomplishment(s) you are proud of

Flagstaff Fearsome Four FKT - This whole project was a big jump for me as it was the furthest I had ever run and lacked the safety net of aid stations. In addition, it was lots of vert at altitude on technical trail. It was also a record runners I admire have held. I feel fortunate to have been able to contribute to the story of this challenge.

Any races or adventures on your horizon and / or bucket list?

Leadville 100! hopefully this year, fingers crossed!

Your favorite PATH projects gear?

Sykes AT 5" shorts and the Sykes PX 5" short, I love the stretch of the fabric and really forget they are there during long runs. Also, the Pyrenees T19 hooded shirt is always my go to on cold days. Its super comfy and I feel like Obi Wan Kenobi running in the mountains.

What do you enjoy about running?

I just love the feeling of my stride and where that takes me.

Be consistent, enjoy yourself, never give up.

Anything else you’d like to share to the PATH projects community?
